Who may submit a nominee for membership consideration, when may the nomination be submitted, and what information is required?

A member may submit a name for membership consideration at any time to the Chapter President or Membership Chairperson. The submission must include the nominee’s name, address, and phone number

What additional information must the member provide about the nominee?

The member must provide a brief résumé to the membership committee.

How and when are nominations prepared for a membership vote?

At least three months before the nearest induction date, all nominations received by the committee are listed alphabetically on a ballot with brief but informative biographical information.

How are members informed about the voting process?

: Appropriate voting instructions are provided on the ballot at the time of voting.

How are candidates selected for induction?

An appropriate number of candidates for each induction is selected from those receiving the highest number of votes.

: What is sent to candidates who are selected?.

Selected candidates receive a Call to Membership Letter and an official application to which they may reply.

What information is included in the Call to Membership Letter?

The letter confirms membership acceptance; requests payment of applicable fees; provides the date, time, and place of the induction ceremony; identifies any appropriate dues for the ceremony; and includes any other pertinent information.

What occurs at the candidates’ meeting for those who accept membership?

Candidates are given the organization’s history and background, told what is expected of them as members, assigned one or more required projects, and assigned a Drexel guardian who may be someone other than the proposer or sponsor. All projects and activities must be completed satisfactorily and submitted by the established deadline. The candidates are then known as Neophytes.

What approval and frequency limits apply to induction ceremonies?

An induction may be scheduled only with chapter approval, and no more than one induction may be held in any given year.

How does the chapter membership quota affect the number of candidates accepted?

Membership may not exceed the quota set by the Chapter. Only the number of candidates who can be admitted without exceeding that quota are accepted; all remaining candidates are placed on hold and notified.

What happens if a candidate who receives a Call to Membership Letter declines membership?

The candidate with the next-highest number of votes is notified.

: Can nominees or candidates be carried over from one year to the next?

No. Neither nominees nor candidates are held over from one year to the next. Their names must be resubmitted to be considered again
